October 2025 Update

A few weeks ago, Jen and I traveled to Washington D.C. for CureFest to help make childhood cancer a national priority. While there, we spent time looking at the “Angel Wall.” This display shows pictures of children stolen by cancer. The wall stretched a full city block. While Dalton’s picture was on the wall, Jen and I know many kids who should have been represented on the wall but were not. The Angel Wall was jarring, enormous, and, sadly, incomplete. Mere weeks later, it’s my birthday today. Another year older and, in today’s case, officially another decade older. I would have quickly traded places with Dalton so that my son could have birthdays beyond his twelfth. While his friends are driving, going to homecoming, and thinking about colleges, Dalton is forever twelve. Jen and I often wonder what Dalton would be like as a sixteen-year-old. Which high school would he be attending? Would Dalton have a girlfriend? All sorts of questions. But what we are certain of is Dalton would want to help kids just like him fighting cancer. The kids on the wall in DC needed more help but, sadly, there are thousands more kids who need help today and in the future. Having another birthday while all the kids on that wall in DC won’t get to is cruel and unfair but cancer doesn’t care. So, in honor of Dalton and all the other kids on that wall, D-Feet Cancer is going to keep raising money for critical research. Hopefully my additional birthdays will enable more kids to have additional birthdays.

On the schedule side of things, D-Feet Cancer is holding our 4th annual golf tournament on Friday October 10th in Virginia Beach. For the first time ever, the event is sold out. Jen and I are looking forward to a great day of spreading awareness about the need for pediatric cancer research and raising research dollars. Jen, in particular, is also very much looking forward to Saturday October 11th. Our local forecast calls for rain all weekend, so with the golf tournament behind us, Jen is looking forward to a day or two of rest.

Our next big event, after the golf tournament, is the D-Feet Cancer gala. This year it will be held on Saturday February 21 at The Neon House in downtown Norfolk, Virginia. We had a fantastic time at our gala last year and hope you’ll consider joining us in early 2026. To learn more about the gala, please visit https://auctria.events/EverydayMemoriesGala2026

D-Feet Cancer expects an upcoming grant to push us past $500,000 of funded research in the very near future. Half a million dollars of funded research would not have been possible without supporters like you. Thank you for helping us D-Feet Cancer.
